Scenes from an Auburn Game (Game 3)
Amazing.
That one word sums up my experience yesterday with the Auburn/LSU game. I’m proud of my Auburn boys. War Eagle!
For those of you who don’t follow SEC College Football, Auburn beat the defending National Champions, LSU yesterday 10 to 9 in a gruelling defensive battle, including a second half SHUTOUT of LSU. Tracking the polls, Auburn climbs to the top 10 (9 in AP, 10 in USA Today, depending on who you follow), and LSU tumbled from the five spot to number 13 in both polls.
I even predicted the win… before the game, an obnoxious, drunk LSU fan spotted my Bookstore Button that read “National Chumps”, and asked what it meant…
I told him it’s what LSU would be after the game.
He went on to say last year Auburn was a pre-season top 10 and their season went nowhere, so really Auburn’s the National Chump… and that LSU would have been satisfied with any BCS bowl win, let alone the national championship….
I said, “Yeah, but that was last year, chump”.
That shut him up. I was expecting a fist in my face, as that’s standard drunk and obnoxious LSU fan practice… but he just walked off.

Tiger flies again! A tradition started a few years ago, War Eagle Vi or “Tiger” flies over Jordan-Hare Stadium before every game… until last year. Tiger, a 26 year old Golden Eagle, became sick last year and they would not let her fly. Before the game, there was a surprise in store for Auburn fans as we were directed to look over at the US Flag on the upper deck… being so far away, I couldn’t see at first.. but I heard the crowd cheering…. then, suddenly, there she was! Flying over Jordan-Hare, riding the strong winds, circling over the stands… you could tell she was enjoying her moment of freedom! Everything else became secondary to me watching Tiger fly… it’s amazing….
In other excitement, during the second half of the game, I spotted several police officers rushing the student section at field level. They reached a spot and I saw them reach down into the crowd and haul this guy out by his arms and THREW him over the hedge and onto the ground…. he fought and struggled and it took 5 officers to subdue the guy. I checked the police reports, but could find what that was all about. It was like a scene from Cops!
After a win like that, life is good….
