Even though Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions finished out their season a winner, a dismal 4-7 record is indicitive that JoePa’s time has passed. It’s time for him to retire and enjoy the rest of his life.
Paterno’s contract with Penn State expires in 2008. This gives him four more years to continue to send the program into a downward spiral.
Why would an Auburn fan care, you might ask? Well… I don’t really. I just think it’s embarrasing for a coach I once respected to not realize that it’s time to give it up.
Penn State’s going through it’s worst time since the thirties… a couple weeks ago, Penn State had to make a last minute goal-line stand in the fourth quarter to win an away game against Indiana, who is more famous for basketball than their football program.
Paterno’s been head coach for 39 years… he’s been coaching at Penn State for 55 years. I think it’s time to hang it up Joe…. it’s obvious today’s football is much different than it was 40 years ago. You’ve already missed your chance to go out in a blaze of glory… now just hang it up before you go out in total shame.
Well… enough chatting about football, time to watch it. It’s Kyle’s household tradition on Turkey Day…. so Happy Turkey everyone!
