My Cousin Mark’s Wedding….

girlsonbar.jpgWho are these girls dancing on the bar? Who cares? But they were a lot of fun!

This week, I took a couple days off from work and went to Austin for my cousin Mark’s wedding. I guess there’s still hope for me…. heck, Mark waited until he was 37 before he took the plunge…. guess that gives me another 9 years.

Weddings are interesting. They bring together family… and family makes for interesting times.

Hanging out with my cousins was a lot of fun, we hit the clubs on Sixth Street, drank a little (or a lot, depending on who we’re talking about), had a near-miss with a doorman, and spent way too much money. One thing I like about Austin: lots of hot women here and the club scene is much better than Atlanta’s.

As far as the wedding… my cousin got married finally… created an “instant family”…. his wife has two kids, so he quickly became “daddy” as well as husband. The kids seem like they’re well behaved, which is awesome for Mark.

Couple of notes about the actual wedding…. people never cease to amaze me. There were notes around saying that the Church requests that you do not take pictures during the service, yet people were doing it anyway…. the flashbulbs going off was quite distracting. So, if you go to a wedding… learn to read… if the church says no pictures… put your cameras away!

Reception was nice. It was at this old mansion out in the country. The picture thing was very irritating. Now, the professional photographer was cool, but it was all the “personal” shots everyone wanted… Of course, I’m not the kind of person who likes my picture taken a bunch of times anyway…. maybe that has something to do with it.

Food was excellent at the reception, I had the best Filet Mignon I’ve ever had in my entire life. This was the most tender, juicy piece of cow I’ve ever eaten. The rest of the food was excellent too…. the Grooms cake was a “Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake”, a definite recommend if you can ever find one. I completely enjoyed the open beer bar. Don’t ask me how many I drank…. I can’t tell you.

One gripe… I don’t dance. I don’t like to dance, I don’t dance well, I don’t want to dance. I wish people would respect my wishes instead of trying to pull me onto the dance floor while the rest of the people at the table you’re sitting at are all trying to convince you to go…. why doesn’t anyone listen? Ugh. I hate dancing…

GOOD thing Mark and Renee opted not to do the bouquet and garter throwing thing…. Mark said “What’s the point, there’s not many single people there?”… which is fine in my opinion… In fact, looking at the single guys there…. It’d be two adult men and a bunch of small boys…. Gee, I think I’d let one of the boys catch the garter!

Well, it’s been a busy day… time for sleep…. it’s good to be back blogging on a regular basis again… expect more of it.
