Superbowl XXXIX
Well, I was completely disappointed by the Superbowl this year. The Patriots won and the ads weren’t nearly as funny as they usually are.
As far as the game itself… did you hear those fuckwits on FOX comparing Bill Belichick to Vince Lombardi? Don Shula? Come on… Belichick isn’t that great, and certainly not on the level of Lombardi.
If you haven’t seen the Superbowl ads, go here
No links for the current ads boys and girls, use the link above to go watch these… I’ll make my comments in Alphabetical order…
Ameriquest - Taser Scare & Cat Killer - Both of these ads elicited a smile and a laugh out of me…. In Taser Scare, we get violence and a beating…. and in Cat Killer, not everything is always as it seems. Ameriquest did very well!
Anheuser-Busch - Where do I begin? The Cedric The Entertainer are still funny… I liked “Designated Driver Dance” better between the two ads… Of course, Donkey makes a comeback from last year and I think was Bud’s top “lighter-side” ad…. However, my favorite ad was the “Thanking the Troops” spot, where everyone in the airport applauds a group of American Soldiers coming home. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Very classy…. very classy indeed. Thank YOU Budweiser.
Careerbuilder.com - The Entire Monkey Business Series - These ads remind me of where I work…. and I’m the human.
FedEx - How to Make a Superbowl Commercial - 10 Items Needed to Make the Best Commercial - 1. Celebrity 2. Animal 3. Dancing Animal 4. Cute Kid 5. Groin Kick 6. Talking Animal 7. Attractive Females 8. Product Message (optional) 9. Famous Pop Song 10. Bonus Ending. FedEx covers them all…. quite humorously.
GoDaddy.com - Strapless - I thought this ad was very tasteless in light of the previous years “Wardrobe Malfunction” and the NFL’s desire to have a clean, family oriented Superbowl experience.
McDonalds - The Lincoln Fry - Uhhh… what? Completely stupid.
Pepsi - Truck Trend - P. Diddy gets a ride in a Pepsi Truck and causes a new fad. I love it… It shows just how easily influenced we all are.
And that’s the end of my list… the other ads were, in my opinion, okay…. nothing exciting… and not very memorable.
Oh well, maybe next year things will be a little more exciting, and someone other than the Patriots can win.
