Valentine’s Day
This overly commericialized, corporate manufactured holiday has come around again. Last year, the relationship was nearly over… we didn’t do a whole lot for the holiday… the year before, I spent waaaay too much money on crazy stuff: fancy transportation, fancy dinner, and a night in a historic downtown Atlanta hotel.
This year, I decided would be different. I wasn’t going to spend any money on this holiday in protest. However, the CGFW (cute girl from work) was feeling kind of lonely the other day and mentioned to me that this would be her first Valentine’s day in something like 8 years without a boyfriend…. Apparently this fact was also presented to a couple of other employees in the company who think we’d be a cute couple. So with a little prodding, I spent some money… got her some candy, a card, and a teddy bear out of the $4.88 bin at Wal-Mart (hey… It’s not like we’re dating or anything, what’d you expect, diamond earrings)….
One problem. I’m in Hawaii. Now how does this stuff get delivered? Of course one of the prodding co-workers offered to deliver the package on Monday. How will CGFW react? Guess we’ll find out!

I came upon your site by chance, and was caught by your valentine issue. However, I read on and I’m curious. Is this just a vent, like a diary (yet open to public opinion?).
