The First Kiss

I was just reminded of my first “older girl” date, which also resulted in my first kiss. Let’s turn on the Wayback Machine and revisit those days…

I don’t remember exactly how we met. She didn’t go to my school. Her name was April. I was barely 15, she had just turned 16 and had a car… a big deal when you’re that age. She was cute and had long brown hair (I wonder if this is what began my interest in girls with long brown hair?).

We talked on the phone a lot, since she was from the next town over… and hung out together more than a few times. Finally her parents were going to let her drive the car at night (she usually had to be home early - thus squashing most date opportunities). However, it wasn’t a topic of conversation, as I considered us “good friends”.

I vaguely remember the actual date… I think we made it over to the local amusement park, hung out and rode some of the rides together. I remember holding her hand on things like the Ferris Wheel, on the log ride, and other such rides (give me a break, I was barely 15… which I know is “old” by today’s standards, but when I was 15, getting to second base was a huge controversy!).

We had fun at the amusement park and I remember as the park closed, we slowly walked back to her car. It wasn’t a night we wanted to end anytime soon. I also remember her driving slowly back to my house. We spent the whole time talking and laughing.

Finally, as we got close to my house, she stopped a good bit away from the house and pulled over on the side of the street. I thought nothing of it and we continued to talk for at least another 10 minutes or so. As we started to say our goodbyes, I reached over for the door handle to get out, and that’s when I heard it…

“Give me a kiss”

It was more like an order than anything else. At first, I was taken aback, confused… not sure what to make of this command that my friend had just made. I wasn’t quite sure what to do, as I had never kissed a girl before so I leaned in for a peck on the cheek… however she apparently figured it out, or anticipated it and her lips found mine.

I’d like to say that the kiss was every bit of passionate as you see in the movies, but you guys would know it’s a lie. It lasted a couple minutes, but what seemed like an hour. It certainly woke up something inside me. Wow! I was hooked… and replayed that kiss many times over in my adolescent mind. Fortunately, I had many opportunities to try again and again.

Unfortunately, those opportunities weren’t with April. We talked a few more times after that night, but never went out again.

You’ve got a pretty interesting story for your first kiss. I suppose older girls are more aggressive compared to those that belong to your age bracket. And I suppose that is the reason why some guys love dating older women? I’ve tried dating older men. I like the way they take care of me. They treat me with so much love. I have yet to try dating younger guys for a change.
