The Runaway Bride Saga continues…
Tonight, Jennifer Wilbanks – the runaway bride from Georgia – is getting more media attention than she deserves once again. Katie Couric get’s the exclusive interview tonight and the TV teasers promise that Jennifer will answer why she ran.
What’s interesting is that these interview deals come after a memo was leaked by Wilbanks’ agent that links the deals to TV movie deals and also mentioned a $500,000 payment. Of course, NBC flatly denies any wrongdoing and say that Couric’s producers were better at landing the Wilbanks interview.
How far should the media go to secure an interview? With TV fighting with cable and satellite for ratings, it’s easy to promise major benefits to get the story, but the question is, should they? How does this affect NBC’s journalistic integrity?
Furthermore, why are we continuing the follow this dead story? Another bad habit of Television news today is to beat the dead horse over and over and over and then once more for good measure. At this point Jennifer Wilbanks is old news. I don’t think she should profit from her own stupidity. We shouldn’t be giving her a book deal, TV rights and movie advances! She’s basically getting reimbursed for the fine she paid, and then turning a profit over that!
Why does society continue to pay attention to these media whores? What is so particularly interesting about a woman who decides to mock a Julia Roberts movie and be the Runaway Bride?
Stupidity just pisses me off… no wonder I’m pissed off so often.

So are you pissed off at here because she is making money or the people that are paying her?

I absolutely refuse to watch any show with her on it.

What I wonder is why the media thinks anyone is interested in this nobody…

I’m pissed about the fact that people are paying for this…. stupidity should not be rewarded.
