TheBischRight now, it’s mid-afternoon in Atlanta… but here, in Hawai’i, the morning is just getting started. Last night, I crashed early, slept hard through the night and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Here I sit, eating my breakfast, looking out the window of my 20th floor flat (picture is from the window), watching the sailboats float out and the waves roll in. I can feel the breeze blow in and hear the first signs of life coming to the streets of Waikiki.

Life here is very different than on the Mainland. There is little sense of urgency here. People are laid back and relaxed and if something’s not going the way you want it to, that’s okay… it will all work out.

For example, I visited my customer’s site yesterday. He thinks he’s going to open on Friday. With the state his site is in, I’d say there’s no way he’ll open. But his opinion is if it doesn’t open, that’s okay… and if my company charges him a thousand dollars a day for me to stay here past Friday, that’s okay too, because eventually his site will open.

Wha?

I’ve known operators of sites on the Mainland that would go apeshit if we tried to charge them 5 bucks for an extra cable. And that’s speaking for most of them.

I think I’ve learned the secret of Hawai’i: No worries. It is this attitude I desire in life. No pressures, no worries, just be happy and positive and everything will work out in the end.

I could definitely get used to living here…

Aloha!
