Yesterday I made almost $200 selling my old stuff! This is great! The garage looks a little more empty now… and unfortunately most of what’s left is the small stuff… the crap nobody wants.
One funny story to tell before I go back out there though… The Hispanic woman came in with her two children, ages approximately 5 and 8. I said hello to her, and she just smiled at me… the usual sign that she doesn’t speak any English. Before I go on about the kids, I have to tell you, she pulled up in this red van with those plastic Wal-Mart spinners… and one was missing from the front wheel.
Anyway, the kids come in and the five year old heads straight for what few toys I have, playing with all of them and messing up the display. Siiiigh. But what’s funny is the the 8 year old looked around at a bunch of stuff and finally settled on flipping through the pages of my old Playboys. She opened up the cover of the one with the 2001 Playmate of the Year and started paging through it… I don’t know if she thought it was some style magazine or what… I kept watching, because I was curious what her reaction was when she got past the articles and got to the nudity. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Her mother saw what she was looking at and told her to put them down.
Dammit, I needed a good laugh today.

Is that a joke?
My wife had a yardsale last month and made about $700, which was nice. However, if you calculate and subtract the labor from me and my friend… I think she netted .50 cents.
I am all about just dumping stuff at Goodwill.

I am laughing at this one! I love garage sales too, and I have written about the last one I had (back in Feb.). I think Enerd is right though; by the time you deduct all the time and effort you put into getting ready for it - you may net 50 cents!
