TheBisch Held Hostage: Part Deux
Earthlink is pissing me off again.
I have gone for another week of barely having Internet access… and this time the technical support staff all the way in India believe that the problem lies here within my house.
So, while I sit here blogging and surfing on one of my neighbor’s wifi access points, Earthlink is ready to send a technician here to my house to discover that yet again, they sold me a shitty modem and they’ll have to replace the shitty modem again.
There can be no technical reason why my house works sometimes and doesn’t others… it’s got to be their equipment and if all appears fine on their end, as apparently, “their end” is in India, then it has to be this piece of shit box they sold me two months ago.
I am so ready to be over Earthlink, but I’m not sure who I switch to… My choices in this area are Comcast Cable Modem, HellLink, or BellSouth. Who is the lesser of the three evils? Anyone have experience with BellSouth or Comcast?
I HATE YOU EARTHLINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How hard is it to keep my DSL service active? You show all these commericals about how committed you are to stopping viruses and spam. Apparently, you’re spending all your fucking time on this stuff and spending no time keeping your PPPOE & DNS SERVERS ACTIVE! Maybe if you’d quit fucking around with things, everything else would work. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Well, I don’t live in the same area as you (because my options are different), but up here Earthlink offers cable service, they just run on the Time Warner lines. They are my address, they are my provider, they get my money, but TW fixes the lines as needed.
Maybe Comcast has a similar deal?
Cable is (IMO) much more reliable and easy to work with than DSL.

We’ve had Bellsouth for about 3 years now (can’t get cable in our area). We’ve had only one problem and that was when it was first installed. All of our phones quit ringing. Completely. They had crossed some wires in the big green box down the street but it took 4 technician, 3 vacation days and $300 worth of disputed service charges to get that fixed. Once we got that issue fixed, everything has been peachy keen. I don’t think it’s ever gone off-line for more than an hour and that was construction related and we had warning. I’m online constantly at home (due to doing school online) and I’m satisfied with Bellsouth.

I have Comcast…I’ve never had a problem with the service itself. It took backflips to get them to come out and install our cable and give us the freaking modem, but once we got it, it’s been verrrrrry smooth (and fast) surfing since then.
