More Racism - We want Black Hurricanes!

Here’s another email I just got on racism. It also proved true on Snopes.com

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman from Texas, has complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.

She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal.

She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in ‘language’ that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was that black people couldn’t understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report.

I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at 140+ MPH, that’s too hard to understand.

I can hear it now: Weathermen in Miami and Tampa saying…

“Wazzzup, mutha-fukkas! Hehr-i-cane Chamiqua be headin’ fo’ yo ass like Leroy on a crotch rocket!
Bitch be a category fo’! So turn off your chitlins, grab yo’ chirren, yo’ Ho, leave yo’ crib, and head fo’ da nearest guv’ment office fo yo FREE shit!”

Now, that is ridiculous… This congresswoman elected by THE PEOPLE is saying that THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN (ie: ’street’) PEOPLE who live in Hurricane zones are so ignorant that they can’t understand basic English? It’s not as though meteorologists use really big words to confuse their viewers/listeners. What’s not to understand about 150+ mph winds and the word HURRICANE? Duh.

I’m also against naming hurricanes with African-American names. It just gives those racist African-Americans another thing to complain about… I can hear it now: “You only name the worst hurricanes after black people because you white folks are racist”… and you know they’ll claim that too, even though the National Weather Service sets the names in Alphabetical Order years in advance.
