I know I’ve been remiss in telling Life’s Little Stories… I saw this picture on the LOLcats site today and was reminded of my own morning, where I definitely “haz a fierce”. Allow me to explain…
I hadn’t been to the grocery store lately, so I don’t have any suitable food for breakfast in my house. Therefore, I have been stopping by my local McFamous Fast Food place to grab something on the way into work.
So, why the “fierce”? Well, I firmly believe that people who have too complicated (or big) of an order that it can’t be filled in less than 90 seconds, you should get your fat ass out of your car and GO INSIDE.
Yesterday, I sat two cars back from this dude who spent so long at the menu board, I thought he was ordering the whole menu. Now, 10 years ago, you could have argued how drive-thru systems are hard to hear the employee through… but after working in that industry for many years, installing that very equipment, I’d have to call bullshit now. The manufacturers of drive-thru “wireless” systems have really come a long way in the past few years. I’ve noticed that I can understand most modern stores these days. And this fast food place I’m visiting is nearly new. So, it’s not like dude was having a hard time understanding
So, moving on. The dude manages to move on to the Pay Window. Meanwhile, the car in front of me places their order and has moved on in less than 20 seconds. Now, I place my order and move on in about the same time (again, proving it’s not the employee or the wireless system). Dude is still at the pay window. How long does it take to pay for your order??? I blow my horn briefly and finally he moves on.
Fortunately, he took so long at the pay window that the pickup window employees were ready for him and passed him his food out in record time.
So we come to this morning. I’m running a little behind on my way to work. I check the clock just before I pull into the parking lot… I have 9 minutes to get through drive through and drive 1 minute down the road to get to my office… plenty of time, right? HA!
I pull into the lot and realize that I’m the FOURTH car deep in the drive through lane. I look over my shoulder inside the store and there’s several people standing inside too. So, I look ahead and see that we have another idiot at the speaker. I can tell she’s talking, again must be ordering the whole menu. Another car pulls in behind me and drive-thru is now five cars deep! We sit here for another three minutes before idiot bitch finally moves on. Of course the rest of the cars run through the speaker in under 30 seconds each. So, now, just like yesterday, I’m stuck behind this dumbass at the pay-window… Again, how hard is it to give the McEmployee your money or credit card? Count out the damn change before you get to the window.
Finally she moves up the pickup window, and the next two cars go through the pay window… I pull up, but can’t quite make it to the pay window… the pay window employee leaves her station… idiot woman drives off, so I pull up to the pay window… and wait. The next car drives off with it’s food… and I wait. The only other car in front of me is getting her food now and the pay window employee still isn’t back. I have nearly exact change in my hand (I owed $3.41, had $3.50 in my hand)… I watch now as the only car in front of me drives off, leaving the pickup window open. With my money still in my hand, I hit the gas and pull up to the pickup window. As the employee starts to tell me that I should pay back at the window, I growled “I don’t have time to wait for her lazy ass to come take my money, here keep the change… gimmie my food.” and I slapped the money down on the window.
The manager came over and without a word, collected my money and they gave me my food and I got out of there… I had less than one minute to make it to the office… it took EIGHT MINUTES to get through drive-thru! That is ridiculous. Both of these service issues stemmed directly from some f***ing moron who needed to walk their fat-ass inside and get their food instead of tying up the drive-thru. Drive-thru is for FAST service, not FAT service.
Oh, and did I make it? Well… I got to my desk at 8:31…. one minute late… dammit.

I SO hate that. I think we have the world’s slowest So*nic near my house and that’s my usual stop. I usually try to allow at least 10 mins there.
