Where’s Georgia?

It really bothers me when people show their arrogance and stupidity all in one fell swoop. Especially when those people are Americans and they’re showing their ass on an international stage.
This dimbulb asks about the recent Russian invasion of Georgia. Only s/he thinks it’s the STATE of Georgia… you know, where Atlanta is? Where they held the 1996 Summer Olympics… yeah. THAT Georgia.
I can’t believe how some people make it in society without knowing anything. I wonder how many other people thought that the state of Georgia was being invaded by the Russians…. Want to watch Red Dawn, anyone?

Funny thing is, I thought that there would be plenty of Americans who would think the same thing. Geography (and for that matter every other subject taught in public schools nowadays) seems to not really be an American students forte. Just watch Jaywalking (on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show) or even “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?” and you can see that the American populace’s collective IQ is going down faster than ever before. Did you ever wonder why home schooled students seem to fare better than their public school counterparts? Food for thought…
Now, add into that the collective groupthink that most of the people in this country have when it comes to politics (both sides!) and you can see why we are beginning to lose our “top of the heap” status in the world. Sad, very, very sad.
