Thank you, President Bush
Crossposted at Barack Obama Is Not My President
Today marks the end of the presidency of George W. Bush. At 12 noon today, America will have a field day with the coronation of it’s next king messiah president, Barack “Barry Soetoro” Obama. In all the hype over the crowning of the king, let’s not forget the man who is leaving the office of the President of the United States, George W. Bush. The Anchoress is hosting a George W. Bush “Thank-a-thon,” and I want to add my own.
Thank you, President Bush for your eight years of service as President of this country. Thank you for defending our freedoms. Thank you for protecting us from terrorism. Thank you for being a man with a backbone, who was willing to put a stop to Saddam Hussein once and for all. Thank you for making the unpopular decisions you had to make in order to protect this country… protect this house, to use a slogan from a popular sporting good manufacturer. Thank you for sticking to your principles in the face of opposition from both home and abroad.
Thank you for 52 months of uninterrupted growth in this country. Thank you for getting us out of the recession you had on your hands when you took this office. It is such a shame that the Democratic Congress of 2006 messed it up again.
Echoing the sentiments of Mike’s America, I believe that this Bush Administration will be appreciated years from now, even if the popular opinion doesn’t reflect so kindly today. Like the Reagan Administration, the policies and actions this Bush Administration took will be more appreciated in time.
Thank you for making this country safer, thank you for keeping this country strong, and thank you for making this a proud country. I salute you for what you have done for this country. You will be missed, Mr. President. You will be missed.

Saying goodbye to President and Laura Bush today has been very difficult for me. Thank you for posting this tribute to him!
