I’ll be taking a brief hiatus after the Blogathon. I think 48 new entries for you guys to go through and read is plenty for now. Look for my return next weekend. I have some new applications to date me, so I’ll be reviewing those next weekend.

It’s starting to get light outside finally… I can’t believe that I have sat here for 22 hours and blogged every 30 minutes. My mind is mush… I’m going to be just about useless for anything I have to do today. I do know my parents asked for my help with their computers… apparently, I’m the computer help desk for my family. I hate that. I get phone calls, “Hey Bisch, I got this error message and it said something about a general fault and had a bunch of numbers, here let me read them to you.” Why is it that they always forget what the English words are with the error, but always diligently write down every stupid number the computer gives them? I don’t know what any of that shit means. I need to know what the English said. That’s the only real way I can be of any help.

Then, I also set up a wireless network in my parents house. Big mistake, because now whenever their crappy Bellsouth DSL connection goes down, they blame the wireless network. So, I’ll wind up troubleshooting stuff with them over the phone and then figure out it’s their DSL connection. Something I can’t do anything about. Ugh.

Now, I’m not one to just abandon a date as soon as we meet… I decided to at least tough it out. So, we continued on to the restaurant and sat down to look at our menus and get our drinks… this is when the 2 year old suddenly decides to go berserk. AND SHE IGNORES HIM. This kid is screaming his fool head off and she keeps reading the menu like nothing is going on. Other people in the restaurant turn to stare… I’m sure my face turned all shades of read and I wanted to explain to all of them: the brat’s not mine…

Finally she shuts the kid up, we order and the food comes (quickly, thank god). We eat, I try to keep the conversation pleasant, asking all the socially appropriate questions and answer hers. Anytime she brought any kind of future up, I quickly steering the conversation somewhere else. We finally finished dinner and the kid was starting to be bratty again.

I took this as my opportunity to get the hell out of there. I asked her “Do you want to take a rain check on the coffee and get him home?” She thought about it for a loooooong second and finally said yes. (Yes, There is a God!)

I avoided any future contact with her… thank god for caller id and invisible mode. There should be a law against fibbing on you dating profiles.

My stories aren’t anywhere near the quality of Mango’s, but the best horror story was this girl I met off of Yahoo Personals. I saw her profile, she looked fairly attractive, we chatted for a couple of weeks on IM and finally agreed to meet, and we set up our evening of dinner and coffee afterwards.

So, on the big day, I get all ready to go meet my date and I get there a few minutes early, traffic was lighter than I expected. So, I’m sitting there waiting, checking out the women, looking to see if I see my date. When finally, about 15 minutes after we were supposed to meet, this woman carrying a small child came up to me and said, “Are you TheBisch?”. My jaw had to have just dropped wide open. This woman looked nothing and I mean nothing like the picture she had sent me. I could see some resembelance in the eyes and nose, and that was it. This person standing before me was easily 200 pounds heavier, had a different hair color/style/length, wearing glasses… and what was this small addition to our date here? I didn’t realize a first date included your 2 year old child.

She explained that away, “My babysitter cancelled at the last minute, and I didn’t want to cancel on you”. Meanwhile I’m trying to recall where in the profile she said she even had a kid, because I thought I distinctly said I wasn’t interested in the instant family deal.

Just over a year ago, I began blogging and one of the first people I added to my blogroll was Kelly. Since that time, we’ve been talking in chat and on the phone… We’ve been there for each other in the best of times, and the worst of times. In fact, Kelly’s on the phone with me right now, helping me stay awake and focused on making my blog entries on time, even though Mango has been a big help throughout the day, the personal interaction on the phone with Kelly is probably what’s keeping me awake and on task at this point.

So, I asked Kelly what I should blog about next and she wanted me to write a post about how much I love her. So, here ya go, Kelly…
